Collection Agency vs Attorney

Why you should use a Collection Agency VS an Attorney?

We have outlined the advantages of using our debt collection agency services versus immediately turning your collection accounts over to your attorney.

Not every debt is ripe for legal action. Account balances under $500.00 are probably not worth investing in court costs, nor worth the attorney’s time working on a contingent fee basis, and should not be considered for legal action.

CSRS works on a straight contingency fee basis. This means you only pay a collection fee on funds that are collected. In addition, we are associated with collection law firms who also perform their services on a contingency fee basis. Their fee comes out of ours. Many collection attorneys will charge an hourly rate fee for collection services, this is not in the client’s best interest. In an hourly rate scenario, the client will incur collection costs regardless of whether a collection is obtained or not.

The best method to elicit a debt collection is through persistent and consistent telephone contact with the debtor. CSRS is set up to do just that. Attorneys are not usually in the business of making repeated telephone calls to debtors, nor do they generally have a desire to perform this function.

CSRS is very experienced in performing in-depth skip-tracing services to locate debtors who have moved on. CSRS has tools and various data bases at our disposal to locate your client, customer, patient, etc.

CSRS also reports outstanding debt transactions to the major credit bureaus which can be a valuable leveraging tool to encourage a debtor to make good on their outstanding debt obligation.

Many attorneys do not have these tools conveniently at their disposal nor are they adequately trained or experienced in this area.

Lastly, if a case goes to court, the most prominent method of collection used by attorneys, the duration of time before money is actually collected from the debtor can at times be lengthy. Conversely, through the use of persistent telephone contact with debtors, voluntary payments can in many instances be obtained in a much shorter period of time by a collection agency, getting funds into your bank account more expeditiously.
